About Must See Cinema:

Each month, a different curator picks a classic and engaging film that they feel a strong connection to. Movies grab people in a lot of different ways, and our curators picked films that they can speak about passionately. Whether it is because the film made the curator think about something differently, or the curator thinks it is underrated, or simply think it is so great that it deserves a screening, we will show the movie they pick. On the first Thursday of the month is a special night, when the audience has a chance to hear from the curator and talk with her or him about the movie in a post-film discussion.

About October’s film, Wristcutters: A Love Story

Despondent after breaking up with his girlfriend, Zia (Patrick Fugit) kills himself and wakes up in a bland purgatory populated by other suicides. He takes a job at Kamikaze Pizza and befriends a Russian rocker named Eugene (Shea Whigham) while trying to make the best of a very dull afterlife. Learning that his ex-girlfriend has also killed herself, Zia embarks on a road trip with Eugene to find her, picking up a feisty hitchhiker (Shannyn Sossamon) along the way.

About October’s curator, Lance Wheeler

Lance Wheeler was born and raised in Saint Albans, WV, graduating from Saint Albans High School. He left home to attend the University of Kentucky (UK) to pursue a degree in Economics. Concerned with the direction of his country, Lance found an interest in public policy at a young age. Lance has worked tirelessly, involving himself in conservative policy work since graduating from UK in 2012. Lance made a deliberate choice to move back to his Mountain State and settle down in his hometown of Saint Albans. In the few years since returning to the area, he has become the Vice-Chairman for the Kanawha County Republican Party. Lance Wheeler is a member of the Saint Albans Moose Lodge, and volunteers in his spare time to help his community grow.
