Join us at the Underground Cinema by WVIFF for November’s feature film: Loving Vincent
About the film:
The world’s first fully oil painted feature film brings the artwork of Vincent van Gogh to life in an exploration of the complicated life and controversial death of one of the history’s most celebrated artists.
Each of the film’s 65,000 frames is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh, created by a team of 115 painters
“The man was carrying nothing; his hands clasped to a fresh bullet wound leaking blood from his belly.
This was Vincent van Gogh, then a little-known artist; now the most famous artist in the world.
His tragic death has long been known, what has remained a mystery is how and why he came to be shot.
Loving Vincent tells that story.”
What the critics are saying:
“An animated masterpiece! An absolutely stunning film that not only does justice to the art of Van Gogh,
but also to the art of movies. I have never seen anything on screen like it before. You will be amazed and lifted by this extraordinary film.”
Pete Hammond, Deadline
“A one-of-a-kind work of art.”
