WEST VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

SPRING 2003 STUDENT FILMMAKING WINNERS

This contest is only open to students enrolled in a West Virginia educational institutions
(home-schooled students are also eligible)

The Spring 2003 edition of the Student Filmmaking Competition ended Sunday, May 4 with WOWK Channel 13 making an appearance to video a portion of the competition. The segment aired Sunday at 6 pm, 11 pm and Monday morning at 6 am (nice coverage!). We are pleased with the turnout of students, but several of the projects were not represented in person. This year, there were 33 entries from 12 counties, 15 schools, as well as one home-schooled student. We are thrilled that each of you enjoy the creativity involved in the filmmaking process and encourage each of you to continue down the path of becoming professional filmmakers. It is evident that many of you are serious filmmakers, and we look forward to what you have to offer in the future.

Listed below is a list of the students who the judge of the competition believed deserved special recognition for their efforts. B.J. Gudmundsson did an incredible job in judging the competition and making compilations of each film so that each student's entry could be seen, albeit edited, on the big screen. We are grateful for her efforts -- and yours. Keep up the great work!
