2008 STUDENT FILMMAKING COMPETITION
The West Virginia International Film Festival (WVIFF) invites you to submit a
film or video for its annual Student Filmmaking Competition, which is presented with
financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture & History and the
National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
This
contest is only open to students enrolled in West Virginia educational
institutions
(WV resident home-schooled students are also eligible)
Deadline for submitting Films is extended to
May 15, 2008
The Winners of the 2008 Student Filmmaking Competition
will be announced and screened 1 pm – 6 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the WVSU Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers Street during the first weekend of Charleston's FestivALL.
This year the winning film(s) in each Division will be screened in the WVSU Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers Street, Charleston as a featured event in during Charleston’s 2008 FestivALL, June 20 through June 29. Cash prizes totaling at least $1,000 will be divided as the judge sees fit and awarded to film(s) in each Division that show the greatest amount of originality, creativity, and completion of thought. (The judge may sometimes decide not to make cash awards in every winning category). Announcement of winning selections will occur on the day of the screenings

The Helpful Tips section was developed with the advice of several media professionals in West Virginia and provides numerous tips on framing and lighting shots, directing actors, and editing the final product as well as a variety of other helpful tips.
