Coming from the North on I-77 S & I-79 S – Exit at the Civic Center Exit (58C). This puts you on Pennsylvania Ave. Turn left onto Lee Street. Turn right onto Summers Street. The theater is just beyond the intersection of Summers and Quarrier Streets.

Coming from the South and East on I-77 N & I-64 W – Exit at the Leon Sullivan Way Exit (100). Turn right onto Washington Street. Turn left onto Summers Street. The theater is just beyond the intersection of Summers and Quarrier Streets.

Mountain Stage Concerts in High Definition

ARLO GUTHRIE AND THE GUTHRIE FAMILY LEGACY TOUR - 56 min.
America’s first family of folk music takes the stage to deliver old and new original songs as well as many of  Woody Guthrie’s best loved classics. Arlo is joined by his son, Abe, daughter, Sarah Lee, and son-in-law, Johnny  Irion. The program features extended candid interview segments with Arlo, who speaks his mind about his father’s legacy, the value of music and the music business.

BRISTOL, THE BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC- A MOUNTAIN STAGE SPECIAL – 56 min.
This performance/documentary celebrates the eightieth  birthday of the “Big Bang of Country Music”, Ralph Peer’s “Bristol  Sessions” in 1927 when The CarterFamily, Jimmie Rodgers, The Stonemans and many more country music pioneers were recorded for The Victor Talking Machine Company. The show features performances by and interviews with Ralph Stanley, Tim  O’Brien, Ollabelle, Roni Stoneman, Reagan Boggs, The Yonder Mountain  String Band, Darrell
Scott, Odetta and Dale Jett (grandson of A.P. Carter).

Guest speakers for this evening will be Director Mike Youngren,
and Producers Larry Groce, Fred McClellan, John Nakashima and Andy Ridenour

When an Icelandic businessman interested in purchasing the company wants to meet this boss, the owner hires the actor to play this boss.

His plans are complicated when he meets Lucy, a British woman desperate to marry before reaching Ellis Island. Their partnership becomes the only constant as the travel through the maze of American immigration and naturalization.

The Apollo space program remains one of the most mythologized chapters in American history. The New York Times raves “ [an] American masterpiece, independent to the bone.” And The Chicago Reader calls it “Conceivably the best single feature about ghetto life that we have.”

IT mogul Charles Furgeson was so outraged by his country’s handling of the Iraq war that he independently produced, wrote and directed this incendiary documentary making the case that American military and executive leadership mishandled Operation Iraqi Freedom in astonishing and inconceivable ways. This 145 minute documentary ponders the mistakes, misrepresentations, and misconceptions that Ferguson believes led to the current quandary in Iraq.

In the days leading up to his marriage to Maxine, American born Googol ponders a name change. When this creates friction between he and his Indian born parents, surprising details of the family’s origins come to life in what Entertainment Weekly called a “Moving and marvelous new cross-cultural family saga.”

Morten Viskum Is currently Norway’s most famous and controversial artist. Although not yet a household name in the US, Viskum’s art is widely exhibited internationally. Initially focusing his work on several rodent installation series, Viskum has since exhibited self-portrait installations, a blood on canvas series, and most notably several series of performances where he paints with an dead human hand. The apparent sensationalism of his work never fails to draw strong reactions from the public. In this film, however, Viskum reveals that his artistic goal is to awaken people from apathy and create discussions about serious issues.

When this device falls into the wrong hands, a woman psychiatrist named Paprika travels into dreamworlds to fight the forces of evil.

Fiona (Christie ) and Grant (Pisent) were married for 40 years when Fiona is institutionalized for Alzheimer’s. As her memories quickly fade, Grant finds himself forced to redefine his relationship and love for his wife, even as she transfers her love to another patient at the nursing home. Based on an Alice Munro short story, “Away From Her” is a film you won’t soon forget.

This film screening will be followed by a brief discussion period with the Alztheimer’s Association and Charleston Gardens Assisted Living.

Featuring original songs by Frames frontman Glen Hansard “Once” has become an instant favorite among audiences and critics alike. It counts among its fans, Bob Dylan, Jim Jarmush and even Steven Spilberg, who said the film “gave me inspiration for the rest of the year.”

These events in the final years of East Germany leading to the gradual disillusionment of a Stasi secret police officer make for a devastating film, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and many other international awards. Sadly, Ulrich Mühe, who played that pivotal role, has recently died, but will certainly be well remembered for this work.

Directed by: Olivier Dahan
Starring: Marion Cotillard, Sylvie Testud, Pascal Greggory, Emmanuelle Seigner, Jean-Paul Rouve, Gérard Depardieu, Clotilde Courau and Jean-Pierre Martins.

Marion Cotillard, as the legendary Edith Piaf, delivers an excellent performance (with Piaf’s voice dubbed into the singing). The music couldn’t be better, and the life, though fragmented by lots of time-jumping editing, is portrayed as being lived to the fullest.

Featuring an international roster of 20 filmmakers including The Coen Brothers, Wes Craven, Alfonzo Curon, and Alexander Payne, “Paris, Je T’aime” portrays 18 unique representations of the world’s most photographed city.
